RedIA Salud
Spain has set out to strengthen a robust ecosystem for AI applied to health, accelerating the transfer of knowledge, the maturity of digital solutions, and the international positioning of the country’s health-technology sector. To achieve this, the Government of Spain has launched the RedIA Salud program through Red.es and the State Secretariat for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence. This initiative, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF 2021–2027), has a budget of 50 million euros to promote the adoption of AI in the healthcare sector.
RedIA Salud supports companies of any size (large enterprises, SMEs, startups) with projects that apply advanced AI technologies in the health domain. These projects may be carried out individually or in collaboration with health services, hospitals, universities, research centers, patient associations, or healthcare professionals. Each proposal must include a demonstration, validation, or certification with real-world data, ensuring that AI solutions operate under realistic conditions. The aim of the program is to speed up the safe and effective deployment of AI in the healthcare system, fostering sustainable innovation and public-private cooperation.
Each project may request funding between €400,000 and €5,000,000, with coverage ranging from 25% to 60% of eligible costs. Applications may address a wide range of health-related areas such as: assisted diagnosis, personalized medicine, health-system management, emergency response, biomedical or pharmacological research, among others.
